Slash is honoring the life of his late stepdaughter.
The legendary guitarist, 58, revealed on Instagram on Sunday, July 21, that his stepdaughter, Lucy Blue Knight, passed away “peacefully” on July 19 in Los Angeles at the age of 25, calling her “an incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer and a fascinating, loving and kind soul.”
Slash did not provide details about the cause of her death. When contacted by People, a rep for Slash had no further comment. In an Instagram post, he asked that the family “please maintain privacy at this time and keep social media speculation to a minimum while we grieve and process this tragic loss.”
On July 21, two days after Knight’s death, a seemingly planned post was shared to her Instagram page, featuring a selfie and caption reflecting on her relationships with various people in Knight’s life.
According to an Instagram post by Slash, Knight, who was born on Dec. 6, 1998, was “the beloved daughter of Megan Hodges and Mark Knight, step-daughter of Samantha Summers Knight and Slash, sister of Scarlett Knight and step-sister of London and Cash Hudson.”

Slash, whose real name is Saul Hudson, began dating Blue Knight’s mother, Megan Hodges, in 1989, but their relationship cooled off before rekindling in 2015, more than 20 years later.
During that time, Slash was married to model and actress Rene Suran, whom he dated from 1992 to 1997. He then married Perla Ferrer in 2001, with whom he had sons London and Cash. Slash and Ferrer ended their marriage in 2014, and the Guns N’ Roses icon began dating Hodges again the following year.
On the morning of July 21, before announcing the news of his daughter-in-law’s death, Slash told fans on X (formerly Twitter), “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are unfortunately forced to cancel four shows from the SERPENT tour between July 22nd and July 27th.”
Slash’s SERPENT tour is currently hitting the road across the US, and earlier this month the artist told PEOPLE that he’s “pulled every last detail we could” to make the tour a success.
“I’m looking forward to it because it’s a lot of fun. I’m really looking forward to opening up and playing my heart out for two hours every day for a couple of months and jamming with the people I’m touring with,” he added at the time.
