East Carolina University senior cornerback Shavon Level Jr., one of the top NFL Draft prospects, tore his anterior cruciate ligament during practice this week and will miss the rest of the season, sources told ESPN.
Revell has been one of the Pirates’ most productive cornerbacks in the country. Since entering 2023, he has recorded 11 pass breakups and two defensive touchdowns, including a 50-yard interception return last week against Appalachian State.
A source said it was an “accidental injury” to his left knee that occurred during practice on Wednesday.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. ranked Revell as the No. 2 cornerback prospect in the upcoming draft, behind Michigan’s Will Johnson. ESPN’s Jordan Reed had Revell as the No. 14 overall prospect in his rankings.
Revell made the unconventional move of turning down a lucrative opportunity to transfer to one of college football’s top programs and remain at East Carolina University this season.
“He has a chance to be this year’s Quinion Mitchell,” an NFL scout who watched Revel this year said of the former University of Toledo cornerback who is a first-round draft pick in 2024. “He’s one of the most talented players out of the Group of Five conferences.”
Nearly every team in the NFL has come to East Carolina to check out Revell this year, including local scouts, national scouts and scouting directors, a testament to Revell’s talent.
Revell was projected to be a first-round draft pick. NFL scouts said they were surprised that Revell had two interceptions already this year because they assumed opposing quarterbacks would not throw to him.
