After releasing on PC earlier this year, it looks like Stardew Valley’s version 1.6 update is finally coming to consoles.
In a short post on Stardew’s website and social media today, the game’s creator Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone revealed that the release date for the Stardew Valley 1.6 update on consoles (and mobile devices) will be November 4th, 2024. The console update will be “released in version 1.6.9,” and will arrive on PC around the same time.
“Hello everyone! The console and mobile ports of the 1.6 update will be released on November 4, 2024. Thank you for your patience. The console and mobile ports will be released with version 1.6.9, and will be released on PC around that time. I look forward to the full release of 1.6 on all platforms. After that, I would like to finish Haunted Chocolatier next. Thank you -Ape”

Barone confirmed that the update would also include the Nintendo Switch platform, and he reiterated that these updates have always been released on PC first as a “sort of” beta test to ensure there are no major bugs, which could become bigger issues on consoles because they can’t be fixed immediately.
As for whether you want to start a new file alongside version 1.6, you’ll be able to experience “almost all of the new features” in your existing save, but there will be “a few” new things, like when comparing the first year to subsequent years.
The full changelog for the version 1.6 update can be found on the official Stardew Valley website, and as mentioned above, once this is complete, Barone plans to finish his next game, Haunted Chocolatier.
