Everyone gathered at the Bercy Arena at the Paris Olympics on Saturday witnessed a legendary and extremely rare performance from Stephen Curry.
How rare is it?
In his 1,103 NBA games, Warriors superstar Curry has only made four 3-pointers inside the final 2 minutes, 47 seconds once, in Game 3 of the 2015 NBA Finals, Golden State Warriors senior vice president of communications Raymond Ridder said Sunday on Twitter.
Nearly a decade later, Curry accomplished the incredible feat for the second time in his career as Team USA defeated France in his first (and likely final) attempt at Olympic gold.
Curry made a 3-pointer with 2 minutes, 47 seconds left in the game and finished with a team-high 24 points and eight 3-pointers to lead the United States to its fifth gold medal.
And of course, of all Curry’s eight field goals, none were more impressive than his game-winning shot over NBA veterans Evan Fournier and Nicolas Batum.
Curry struggled to find his rhythm early in his first Olympic Games, but as the match went on he found his groove against Steve Kerr’s star-studded squad and proved why he is the greatest shooter of all time.
Following his late performance in Paris, the 36-year-old guard finished the tournament with an impressive 47.8 percent shooting from three-point range.
And he delivered one of the most thrilling, rarest performances on the world’s biggest stage.
