Nearly 50 years after The Rocky Horror Show first came out, Tim Curry is gearing up for a spooky new role.
The veteran actor returns to the big screen as a character in the horror movie “Stream,” which opens in select theaters Wednesday. It will be his first feature film since the 2010 comedy “Burke & Hare,” but he has worked as a voice actor in a number of animated series since then. He also appeared in the 2016 Fox TV remake of “The Rocky Horror Show.”
In addition to his role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in “Rocky Horror,” Curry gained acclaim in the genre for his roles as Pennywise in the TV miniseries “IT” and in films such as “Legend,” “Crew” and “Scary Movie 2.”
Stream writer, director and producer Michael Levy said having the icon star in his film was a dream come true.
“It’s been really tough keeping this secret and containing my excitement, especially for such a long time,” Levy said in a statement. “I’m so pleased and excited to bring Tim back to the world and the big screen! His charm always shines through in everything he does and I’m so honored to have him a part of Stream! He’s someone I’ve personally admired since I was a child and working with him on a project that means so much to me has been one of the great highlights of my life. I can’t wait for fans to sit back and enjoy the film in theaters, and hopefully with a large audience! That’s how horror movies should be watched and enjoyed, and Stream is here to entertain!”
Since suffering a stroke in 2012, Curry has focused on voice acting performances.
