Tamera Mowry revealed that she “found out along with the whole world” that her twin sister Tia will be starring in the reality show “Tia Mowry: My Next Act,” which is scheduled to premiere on WEtv on October 4.
“Tia’s living her life right now and Tia’s doing her own thing,” the Sister, Sister star said in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.
When an ET reporter mentioned the upcoming show in a video interview, Tamera said, “Yeah, I know. I didn’t know until the whole world found out!”, before lightly scoffing and playfully rolling her eyes.
News of “My Next Act” debuted at parent company AMC Networks’ New York 2024 Upfront Presentation in April of this year. According to the logline and new preview released yesterday, the series will follow Tia as she experiences living on her own away from her sister, who they grew up together in the public eye and recently divorced after 14 years of marriage to her ex-husband, fellow actor Cory Hardrict (The Chi, All-American: Homecoming). “My Next Act” will explore Tia’s professional and personal challenges as she juggles motherhood, dating and more.
In a trailer for the series, Tia admits, “The hardest thing has been being alone after my divorce. At times like these, I wish I was still close with my sister and could call her and reach out, but that’s not the case right now.”
When asked about the possibility of Tamera joining the series in the future, the Twitchy actress replied, “Well, she didn’t ask me, so I take that as a no! No, she’s like, this is my story, and, you know, I’ve just got to respect that.” Previously, the two sisters co-starred in the Style Network reality series “Tia & Tamera,” which aired for three seasons in the early 2010s.
She went on to say about whether she’s set up husband Adam Housley and Tia on a date (given that the new show follows her through her single life), “I just feel like she doesn’t want to hear from us at all right now… I just have to respect that. So I think she’s just doing it her own way. I just respect that.”
