NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Nearly 10 months after NewsChannel 5 first raised questions about Rep. Andy Ogles’ personal finances, the Republican congressman has amended his personal finance disclosure documents filed with the U.S. House of Representatives.
In a disclosure filed Friday, Ogles acknowledged for the first time a $700,000 line of credit uncovered by a News Channel 5 investigation. The loan from FirstBank was taken out in 2022 with cosigners from the Maury County Republican’s in-laws, according to property records.
Additionally, Ogles disclosed he had a bank account at First Horizon Bank with assets ranging from $50,010 to $100,000.
All of this follows a NewsChannel 5 investigation in November 2023 that cast doubt on Ogles’ claims that he personally loaned $320,000 to his own campaign when he first ran for Congress in the 5th District in 2022. Ogles’ personal financial disclosures did not reflect his ability to loan such large amounts of money to campaigns.
In May, Ogles amended his campaign finance report to admit he had only loaned $20,000 to his campaign.
In August, following another report by NewsChannel 5 Investigates, Ogles acknowledged that FBI agents executed a search warrant to seize his personal cell phone as part of some kind of investigation.
“I am confident that all parties involved will conclude that the reporting discrepancy was the result of an honest mistake and nothing more,” Ogles said in a statement at the time.
Ogles made the new disclosures in his belatedly filed 2023 report and an amended 2022 report.
These revelations were first reported by the Nashville Banner.
