Construction on Tesla’s diner, Supercharger and drive-in theater in California continues to progress, with two videos released this week showing early glass installation, weatherization preparations, and more.
In two videos shared Monday and Tuesday, YouTube channel 247Tesla shared drone footage of the proposed Tesla Diner and Supercharger site in West Hollywood, showcasing some of the closest daytime views of the recent progress. In addition to showing the site starting to take on a diner vibe, the footage shows workers installing glass in counter-height windows on the first floor, preparing weatherproofing, and installing a second movie screen.
The video also shows concrete drying over the high-voltage lines that power the supercharger lines, as well as a large amount of inventory for installing more piping.
The latest update follows a video posted by the channel over the weekend that gave a sneak peek at what the Cybertruck-like polished steel building would look like. Either way, construction on the Tesla Diner has come a long way since workers first broke ground on the site last September.
The diner, located at 7001 Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, would be a 1950s-style restaurant with rock ‘n’ roll music and roller skate waiters, according to an original idea posted by Tesla CEO Elon Musk on what was then called Twitter. The vision also included two movie screens showing highlights from some of the greatest movie scenes of all time, as seen in the video.
The project was originally slated to take place in Santa Monica but was then moved to its current West Hollywood location, with final permits received to begin construction last August.
