The coolest 911 doesn’t look like a frowning truck refugee, it looks like this
Publication date: October 29, 2024
This is the new 992.2 Porsche 911 Carrera T. You can turn off the configurator and return to the light. This is the 911 you want.
There are probably 110 million different versions of the 911, so this is one of the coolest. Porsche itself says that the new Mr. T “aims to focus on the essentials,” and those essential elements are simple: a flat-six engine, manual gearbox, and rear-wheel drive. If so, you may be wondering why I bothered with it. “GT3” button.

It’s powered by the now familiar 3.0-litre twin-turbo boxer, producing 389bhp and 332lb ft of torque. This is the same as the base 911 Carrera. It’s slower than the base 911 Carrera, though, as that car accelerates from 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds (with the Sport Chrono Pack), while this one does it in 4.5 seconds.
So while it’s more powerful than the last 911 T (reintroduced in 2017, the nomenclature is reminiscent of the original 911 ‘Touring’ from 1968), it’s actually…the slowest 911 you can buy. is. wonderful. If you opt for the 911 T Cabriolet, which is available as an open-top for the first time, it’s even slower, as the car accelerates from 0-62 mph in 4.7 seconds. You won’t care.
Not if there is a proper 6-speed manual gearbox with a wooden gearknob, and only a 6-speed manual gearbox with a wooden gearknob. There’s no PDK wizardry here (which explains why the base Carrera is so fast).
The front is equipped with a big 350mm disc with a 6-pot caliper. That’s a lot of pots. Porsche says Mr. T’s “reduced internal insulation” and the gearbox’s “auto blip function”, combined with the standard sports exhaust system, “contribute to a particularly emotional soundscape”. .

In addition to the manual box, which is less sound deadening and lighter than the PDK, Porsche installed lightweight windows and offered lightweight bucket seats as an option. The lightest version available for spec is 40kg lighter than the base Carrera, weighing in at 1,478kg.
This means you’ll be able to enjoy more standard rear axle steering, a “more direct” steering ratio, 10mm lower suspension with adaptive dampers, and a “bespoke set-up with front anti-roll bar activated.” . And the rear axle will be tuned for neutral handling.” Lightweight alloys are also used, and it measures a massive 20/21 inches front and rear.

Naturally, with a special sticker on the inside featuring the Shift Pattern logo, a spoiler lip pinched from its big brother GTS, a host of ‘Legend’ body color options and a stopwatch forming part of the design, Mr. There are countless little details that adorn the T. Standard fit Sport Chrono Pack and of course the walnut laminate gear knob.
If you don’t specify lightweight buckets, four-way adjustable sports seats are standard, and you can choose from any number of optional design packs, both outside and inside.
So the base price of £111,300 for the Mr T Coupe and £121,300 for the Mr T Cabriolet probably won’t last very long. So focus on the essentials. Sixer, manual box, rear wheel drive. Is this the coolest 911?
