Edem Senanu, a leading member of Ghana, a champion of Christ and an anti-corruption activist, said the Association of Magistrates and Judges of Ghana (AMJG)’s account of fraud and disrespect at the Family Values March was declared to be inaccurate.
AMGJ said the actions of the protesters led by Ningo Prampuram MP Samuel Ngati George and their contempt for the judiciary and the Chief Justice left much to be desired.
Chairman of the AMJG, Justice Henry Anthony Kwoffi, made this known at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, October 10, 2024, to express the judge’s displeasure with the actions of the protesters last Tuesday.
“The actions of the demonstrators and their leaders, their stated attitude, and their contempt for the judiciary and the Chief Justice’s wife left much to be desired.”
“Every court, from the District Court to the Supreme Court, has a procedure that all litigants must follow, and that no judge or even the Chief Justice can override that procedure or the rules of the court. is worth pointing out,” the judge said. Kwoffi, who is also a Supreme Court Justice, said:
However, Edem Senanu on GHOne TV said police were called to the scene to ensure that the protests were peaceful and there were no scuffles or attempts to force entry into the Supreme Court.
“There were thousands of photos and videos at the scene, there were police arrangements, and there was no attempt to contest or force entry to the Supreme Court.
“This takes away the credibility of their statements because everyone who was there knows there was no fighting and no compulsion to intervene in the Supreme Court. The substantive content of the petition were concerned with completing the application so that a hearing could be held in order to continue the proceedings. They therefore agreed with the submissions made by the appellants to the Chief Justice, and indeed before him, the Inspector General. It seems contradictory. They seem to be in a world of their own,” said the anti-corruption activist.
He continued: “I don’t understand how they would fabricate a story like that. I have no recollection of being insulted anywhere and there are no video clips or photos or anything to suggest anything like that. I don’t know where this group came from because none of the reportage suggests that.
“I certainly think the police should be commended. They were very thorough.”
