“Lonely Planet” (Netflix)

If you want to avoid the scares, Netflix has a charming new romantic drama from “Erin Brockovich” screenwriter Susanna Grant, paired with Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth. Dern plays Catherine, a down-on-his-luck novelist who finds herself stuck in a rut after breaking up with a former sculptor who has survived cancer. A sun-drenched retreat to Morocco seems like the perfect solution to your writing woes.
There, she meets Owen (Hemsworth), a young man who came to the retreat with his girlfriend, and despite the age difference, sparks fly. After some chance encounters, their friendship develops further and a life-changing love affair begins. Though it’s unlikely to throw any curveballs into the story, “Lonely Island” looks like a gentle drama with two brilliant leads and an equally gorgeous setting that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. should be more than enough.

A24 and Speed Cubers director Soo Kim has created a moving documentary about a group of Korean grandmother divers, also known as real-life mermaids, who are determined to keep their disappearing culture alive.
“The Last of the Sea Women” is a story about the famous women on South Korea’s Jeju Island, who have been diving deep into the ocean without oxygen or other special equipment for centuries to harvest seafood for their communities. It tells the story of Ama divers. Although most ama divers are now in their 60s and 70s, these resilient and determined women continue their craft and inspire younger generations to protect both their traditions and the oceans that sustain them. I’m urging you. This heartwarming documentary follows an inspiring mother and grandmother, exploring the deep bonds of friendship within a close-knit community.

Director M. Night Shyamalan is back, this time with a new mystery thriller from Topside directors Logan George and Celine Held. The story takes place in the rural, swampy community of Karnack, Texas, which is shaken by the disappearance of an 8-year-old girl. Sister-in-law Ellie (Eliza Scanlen) is determined to uncover the truth, but her path crosses paths with Paris (Dylan O’Brien), a local young man who is still reeling from his mother’s death and has a seizure. It will be. The driver fell into Caddo Lake.
As strange events begin to occur, their investigation uncovers shocking facts and long-buried secrets about the lake. Much of the plot is being kept secret, but the trailer reveals some sci-fi and timely elements. And considering this is a Shyamalan movie, there are bound to be plenty of twists and turns.

If you watched A Quiet Place: Day One and were itching to revisit the series, you’ll be happy to know that A Quiet Place: Part II has arrived on Netflix just in time for spooky season. You can get it there. The sequel picks up where the first film left off, as the Abbott family, led by matriarch Evelyn played by Emily Blunt, and their three children set out to find survivors in a world filled with terrifying aliens that hunt by sound.
Joining the cast this time around are Cillian Murphy as another tough survivor, an old family friend named Emmett, and Djimon Hounsou as the leader of an island colony of survivors, who we’ll be hearing about in Day One. I learned more about it. Filled with heart-pounding moments and characters you can’t help but love, A Quiet Place Part II is more than just a cheap thrill, it’s a deep, heartfelt horror film.
