Tracee Ellis Ross has such vibrant, enviable summer style that it’s easy to forget her keen sense for fall fashion. As soon as she puts away her bikini after a tropical getaway (until she takes a winter vacation, dammit), she instantly transitions into fall mode. That means luxe fabrics, cool color combinations, and truly unforgettable manicures. While she seems to love indulging in fresh trends, she can’t resist the more traditional seasonal hues. Just look at Ross’s burgundy nails and matching pedicure. The muted wine-toned hue perfectly captures the depth of fall. And think about it: a megastar like Ross choosing this color for both her manicure and pedicure might be the ultimate cue.
Ross posted a photo of an incredibly fall-like look: a cinch-sleeved sweater, a brown suede dress with silver studs, and long slicked-back braids pulled into a swinging ponytail, with bright pink peep-toe heels adding an extra splash of vibrancy and fun to the look, which also revealed a glimpse of her long, almond-shaped nails and pedicure painted the same reddish-purple color.
It’s this mix of purple, red, and a touch of brown that gives this nail polish color its unique hue. Any more red and it would look like merlot, any darker and it would be nearly black in most lighting settings. But this shade is a vibrant, deep wine that will pair beautifully with any fall outfit. It’s no wonder burgundy is widely regarded as the most luxurious color of the season in both beauty and fashion.
It’s a change of trend for Ross, too. Overall, she’s stuck with her classic colors: various shades of red, glossy black, crisp white, and neutral, flesh-like beiges. Given her packed schedule of fashion shows and other big events, the change is a fun and smart choice.
And thankfully, the weather is still warm enough for her to show off her matching pedicure.
