Rapper Travis Scott was arrested in Paris after getting into a drunken brawl with a bodyguard just hours after sitting courtside to watch the U.S. Olympic team play, local reports said.
Local newspaper Le Parisien reported that the “Butterfly Effect” hitmaker, 33, was detained by police in the French capital in the early hours of Friday after a drinking session with his entourage.
The heated argument between Scott, whose real name is Jack Webster, and his bodyguard took place at the luxury Four Seasons Hotel George V in London’s upscale 8th arrondissement and reportedly escalated into violence.
Scott, who is currently staying at the celebrity hotspot during the 2024 Olympics, returned to his hotel late on Thursday night before getting into a fight with members of his team, a police source told the outlet.
“He was not immediately available for questioning so he was placed in solitary confinement where he was still sober,” a source told the outlet.
The rapper, who was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident, was arrested just after 5am local time and was still “sober” in jail before being questioned, police said.
Sources said police were called to the hotel, located just a few minutes from the Champs-Elysees, following reports of “violence against a receptionist.”
The “Sicko Mode” hit singer, who has two children with ex-girlfriend Kylie Jenner, is currently in Paris for the Olympics.
Scott sat in the front row at the basketball semifinal between the United States and Serbia late Thursday, along with his friend and fellow rapper Quavo and Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin.
The three displayed a range of emotions during a tense match in which the U.S. men’s basketball team overcame a double-digit deficit in the fourth set to reach the final against France on Saturday.
The 10-time Grammy nominee’s arrest came just one day after body camera footage was released of his June 20 arrest in Miami Beach on suspicion of trespassing.
In the video, Scott says that when officers responded to a call about people fighting on a yacht, they found him standing near the pier yelling at the yacht’s occupants, and that he was “scared” by the number of officers there.
Scott was subsequently taken into custody in connection with misdemeanor trespass and public intoxication, although the latter charges were later dropped.
