BJP workers tried to burn an effigy of Rahul Gandhi. However, the police thwarted the attempt.
Hapur:
A bizarre tug-of-war between some police personnel and Bharatiya Janata Party workers was witnessed in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district today. The bone of contention was the portrait of Rahul Gandhi.
BJP workers took out a march to protest against Rahul Gandhi’s statement on reservations during his recent visit to the US. They also attempted to burn effigies of opposition leaders in Sabah. However, the police thwarted the attempt. Video footage showed the police snatching the pieces of the doll and running away, with party officials chasing them.
In an interaction with students from Georgetown University in the US, Mr Gandhi said Congress would consider abolishing reservations once India became a “fair place”, but insisted that was not the case at the moment.
“Rahul Gandhi is a very senior leader of the Congress. He is the leader of the opposition in Sabah. He made such a statement after going to America… This is a very reprehensible statement. ,” said Bharatiya Janata Party MP Bohra. Shin.
“All Scheduled Caste workers were participating in the protest. He should apologize to his fellow countrymen, all SCs, STs and OBCs,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi’s statement drew a lot of criticism and he clarified as follows: “Yesterday, someone misrepresented my statement that I was against reservations. But let me be clear, I am not against reservations. We accept reservations beyond the limit”St. “
Home Minister Amit Shah slammed his remarks, saying that in America whenever you want to say something “rubbish” you say it.
“They are accusing us of ending the reservation, but he (Rahul) said in English that he is going to end the reservation there (in the US),” Shah said.
“What are you going to do? It is our government. As long as we have even one Bharatiya Janata Party member in Parliament, we cannot eliminate reservations for Dalits and backward people,” he added.
