While you can reduce wrinkles with skin care products, there’s more you can do to give your skin a youthful glow.

Experts tell us why drinking lots of water and getting enough sleep can change the appearance of your skin.

According to Dr. Elena Budovskaya, CEO of epigenetic health company TruMe Labs, these tips are more important than people realize.

Experts say: “Sleep and hydration are non-negotiables for youthful skin. While you sleep, your skin has time to repair and regenerate.

“Lack of sleep increases stress and increases cortisol levels, which break down the collagen and elastin that keep your skin looking fresh.

“According to the National Institutes of Health, stress can also damage DNA, shorten the lifespan of cells and accelerate aging.”

Sleep and stress reduction are closely related. Studies have shown that getting enough sleep improves your mood and reduces stress levels, especially for people who get at least eight hours of sleep a night.

Moisturized skin also looks more youthful. This can be achieved by drinking water, eating hydrating foods, and using skin care products.

The expert added, “Staying hydrated means more than just drinking water.

“Skin hydration is important, and using moisturizing products such as hyaluronic acid can help prevent dehydration lines that are often mistaken for wrinkles.”

Yelena also suggested investing in a humidifier and taking fewer hot showers, as they can dry out your skin.

When it comes to food, think fruits and vegetables that have a high water content.

She continues, “Eating water-rich fruits and vegetables like kiwi and cucumbers can also help keep your body hydrated.

“Keeping your skin hydrated is especially important during the fall and winter months. Follow these tips to help keep it hydrated.”

When it comes to products, she suggested using a highly protective SPF daily to slow the signs of aging. She says, “No matter the season, sunscreen is an essential part of your beauty routine.

“Using sunscreen daily protects the collagen and elastin that keep your skin soft and prevents so-called photoaging.”
