And now, he has proven his worth as a box office star with his upcoming romantic comedy ‘Bad News’. Directed by Anand Tiwari, Bad News also stars Tripti Dimri and Ammy Virk. ₹It grossed Rs 850 crore in India on Friday. It is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. In the process, Bad News beat Vicky’s 2019 blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike to register the biggest opening of the actor’s career so far. His other top four box office hits are:
Uri: Surgical Strike
Directed by Aditya Dhar, this 2019 military action drama depicts the surgical strikes carried out by Indian troops against Pakistani troops in retaliation for the 2016 Uri attacks. The film stars Vicky as a soldier leading the surgical strike, alongside Yami Gautam, Mohit Suri, Kriti Kulhari and Paresh Rawal. It is due for release on November 14. ₹It grossed Rs 8.2 crore at the domestic box office.

Meghna Gulzar’s 2018 period spy drama was Alia Bhatt’s first hit in a leading role for Vicky. The film was also backed by Dharma Productions and starred Vicky in the lead role as a soldier. ₹The film grossed Rs 753 crore on its first day of domestic release.

Vicky Kaushal will be playing a soldier in Meghna Gulzar’s film and will be creating a world of his own. His last film will be released in December 2023. ₹It grossed Rs 6.25 crore in India. Sam Bahadur, a biopic on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, which also stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Sheikh, has clashed with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s family crime drama Animal at the box office.

Released last year, director Lakshman Utekar’s rural romantic comedy became an unexpected hit. ₹It grossed Rs 549 crore at the domestic box office and also stars Sara Ali Khan.
