Hey hey, it’s Friday. You know what time it is… time for a roundup of the best sales of the weekend, of course! I can’t believe we’re already talking about pre-fall fashion and back-to-school shopping. I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to the heatwaves of summer being over.
The transition to cooler weather is on everyone’s mind, but it can also be one of the trickiest times of the year to dress. Enter this 100% cotton dress that Em plans to wear from now until the future. Not only is it over $300 off retail (a huge sale!!), but the length isn’t too short, making it perfect for pairing with colorful sneakers now or long boots come fall. Whatever side you take on the denim jacket debate (in or out of style?), this jacket has great details that give it a modern feel without straying too far from the familiar silhouette. Come fall, it’s roomy enough to layer with the dress’ puff sleeves or a chunky knit sweater.
Top 5 sales this weekend
adidas – Back to School Sale up to 50% off: $30 off Laura’s comfy Forum Low sneakers. Black and yellow is too “bumblebee” for my taste, but these “almost yellow” sneakers suit my taste (under $60). Anthropologie – Extra 40% off final sale! I can’t stop looking for cute tops to wear with basic jeans or pants…like this flowy long sleeve (under $25 at checkout!), this flowy popover tank top, or a cute knit like this one (under $50 in cart). Saks – S’ Free People quilted jacket, Laura’s Farm Rio linen top (marked down to under $100), and Julieta’s favorite Joe’s jeans are all included in the Spend/Get promotion. Starting with orders of $350 or more. Use code: AUGGETSF. Stanley – Use code TME20 to get special discounts on fan favorites like their Can Cooler Cups, this IceFlow Bottle (we agree with Shana, the flip straw version is better), or the iconic Camp Mugs. Walmart – We decorated our patio with this 4-piece set and it has totally transformed our outdoor space. We saved over $400!!

We just got back from a wonderful few days in Truckee. It was the only real vacation we’ve taken as a family this summer and although it was short, it was so much fun. We stayed at a new place for us with waterslides for the kids, plenty of trails to walk the dog on, and the crunchy, salty sweet potato fries we’ve ever eaten. I don’t know what to say, but it doesn’t take that long these days, haha.
This week’s deals: I’m always on the lookout for beautiful handmade dishes with squeaky-free glazes. These are so cute and surprisingly affordable at an additional 40% off (they also have side plates and shallow bowls). I love simple, sassy sweatshirts, so having this constant reminder (for me and the guy behind me) is super helpful. And, as you know, I’m picky about everyday necklaces. This necklace features a coin-like medallion similar to one I wear every day, with a cool, on-trend, textured chain and a convenient clasp to prevent tangling (no adjustable chains!).
Tank top (XS) | Dress (2), Jacket (S), Bag (new color!), Converse (half size down), Sunglasses (under $30)
ONE: This white tank top is the perfect balance. Not too baggy or too tight. Cute vertical seams on the racerback. It’s as easy to throw on as a jersey tank top, but it’s actually a little thicker and a little stretchier, so it really works when used as activewear, and looks a little more polished when dressed up a little. All the best. Great color and under $20. Wearing a size XS. Also wearing: Crossbody | Sunglasses (still a favorite after all these years).
2: I went to a preschool tour last week wearing the exact same outfit (even down to the sunglasses) as in my recent post, so I can vouch for the comfort of this 100% cotton Derek Lam dress. It’s perfect for dressing up or down, has lovely braided details, and is an absolute bargain at 71% off. I’m in a size 2. This denim jacket looks amazing in person with the patchwork details and shape. A perfectly updated staple. I’m in a size small.

Look, I’m not about to break out my boxes of fall decor just yet, but I did open up a big can of pumpkin cream yesterday to use in some baked goods, and I did open up some pumpkin Chobani creamer this morning (OMG, it’s hands down the best fall creamer I’ve ever had!!!), and I’ve decided to jump on the bandwagon with a TikTok ally that goes, “If fall makes you happy, enjoy it for as long as you can //This is my home, not yours”!
There’s a really sweet promotion happening this weekend! Free People Movement (in their active section) is running a “Spend $150, get $50” promotion. This is my favorite promotion and usually runs site-wide during the holiday season, so it’s fun to see them have a promotion focused on activewear, especially since so many of my favorite items are in that section (like my favorite hoodie, can’t tell you all). The best part is that when you get your $50, you can use it site-wide, not just on Movement apparel.
Next, head over to Shopbop and use COLLECTIVE20 to get 20% off your order (not sure if this is your “first time order” or not, but if so, you can check out as a guest). Shopbop literally has all of my favorite brands, so if you’re not sure where to start, this is a great place to start!

Sweatshirt (L) | Jacket (L)
1: Wow, another chance (maybe the last chance??) to get my favorite crewneck on sale. This time it’s at Nordstrom. If you haven’t tried this sweatshirt yet, it’s definitely worth it. Right now they also have this sweatshirt in the sale section. This sweatshirt is one I’ve been clicking and buying all summer – *add to cart*.
2: I found the windbreaker of my dreams. It’s a roomy, soft layer to throw on over your workout clothes (plus it fits perfectly with running shoes). It fits large, so I got my usual jacket size to make it oversized, but a small size would work too. It has big side pockets and side drawstrings so you can cinch it down if you want. It’s so comfortable and fun that I find myself trying to pick out athleisure wear to go with it.

Hey hey, it’s Friday! Phew, what a fun but productive week. Usually it feels like a bunch of fun events are crammed into one week, but now I get to kick back and watch more Olympics on Friday night, and I couldn’t be more excited. As a social person, I still need a break. This week I saw Sleater-Kinney in downtown Portland (so awesome), attended one of my best friends’ first yoga class and celebrated her with drinks at Expatriate (Rest in peace Naomi, you were the best woman), and spent last night with a small group of friends I met at a prenatal yoga class. We’ve been going for dinner together every few months for the last 11 years! So special. Love you all.
Yes, right now I’m distracted by all the fun back-to-school and fall sales on retail sites, but the sales are not to be missed. I quickly ordered these pants (add an extra 40% off in cart), and my cute new phone case that I love is 20% off right now! If you want to keep all your tech items together for travel (or even for home, to be honest), this is my favorite case. It lets you keep your tablet, Kindle, tons of cords, chargers, and more all in one place in your carry-on or backpack. Calpak bags (my favorite travel bags) are on sale too.

Shoes (half size down) | Jeans (8)
1: The adidas Forum Low is one of the most comfortable adidas shoes. This color is really beautiful and 30% off. It’s mostly gray but has a really pretty lavender hue. As adidas always does, size down 1/2 a size. Very nice and the pastel colors are perfect for fall. | Similar Pants
2: These amazing Wit & Wisdom jeans are currently 25% off. Sizes are going fast, but if you haven’t tried the brand, treat yourself – right now. These are the most comfortable jeans ever. If you’re a bootcut fan, these are the best. Cute sailor pant style with buttons at the hips. TTS.

I’m really looking forward to spending today with my family who are visiting me in Michigan from Texas. We’re heading out to lunch now…
But first, Gap is having a massive sale on fall essentials with up to 60% off. I picked up this striped shrunken polo sweater *drum roll please*: for just $23! Plus, everything on sale at Anthropologie is an extra 40% off this weekend only. I’ve had my eye on this crisp, structured, highly-rated top for ages, and since it’s on sale, I’m buying it.

Skirts (6)
This super fun Topshop skirt I picked up at Nordstrom is on sale for a massive 60% off. It reminds me of the lace trimmed slips and skirts I loved from the early 2000s, and at this price it’s definitely worth it. Also, this denim vest from Madewell is not on sale, but it’s my new favorite top. It’s so flattering and goes with everything. I love the vintage western vibe of this look.

Is my birthday on a Monday? Yes, it is. I can’t believe that August is already halfway over. My birthday literally feels like the start of a new cycle. We’re planning to pack up this house this weekend and hand over the keys to the new owners early next week. What about us? We’re not moving to a new house yet. We have to wait for a few things to happen, so we’ll probably continue living out of a suitcase in my parents-in-law’s apartment in Queens and maybe escape there for a few days since my sons are in Colombia with their families. We’ll see what happens… I’m tired, but I’m really excited to start the new year like this.

Jeans (27), on special sale here (limited sizes) | Pants in different colors (s)
1: My favorite wide-leg jeans are on sale in a variety of washes and lengths. This wash is most similar to mine, and the cropped length is perfect for full-length for those of us who are petite. This light wash is perfect to start wearing now, and will look great in the fall when you pair it with blues, whites, and grays for a cool-toned fall wardrobe. Or pair it with tan and orange for a warmer look.
2: I’ve had these Cinq a Sept joggers for over two years now and continue to find new ways to wear them for every season and occasion. The copper color is long gone, but the closest match is apricot. They also come in other beautiful shades, including indigo, black, and beautiful greens and browns. Note for petites: I shortened the hem by about an inch so they weren’t too baggy.
