Jenkins Hernandez, played by Jaylen Barron on the show, was the mother of Hernandez’s daughter and his longtime fiancé at the time of his death. The couple were living in North Attleboro with their young daughter when Hernandez was arrested in 2013.
According to her Instagram profile, Jenkins-Hernandez currently works as a licensed insurance broker and event planner.
The Globe reported that she was living in Rhode Island in January 2023 when she was embroiled in a dispute with the lawyer managing the trust set up for her daughter. The trustee, along with a limited liability company, is currently listed as co-owner of a property in Johnston, Rhode Island, valued at $502,400.
DJ Hernandez
Hernandez’s brother, Dennis “DJ” Hernandez, has also had his own run-ins with the law and was featured prominently in the Globe’s investigative podcast “Gladiator,” which covered his brother’s case.
DJ Hernandez, played by Ian Castellanos on the show, was charged with federal menacing and stalking for threatening to shoot up the University of Connecticut in July 2023 and kill three people in other states. He was ordered to undergo a competency evaluation in October. He is being held at the Wyatt Detention Center in Central Falls, Rhode Island, but waived his right to a speedy arraignment and preliminary hearing earlier this month, records show. The case is pending and no trial date has been set.
In 2018, DJ Hernandez released a memoir called “The Truth About Aaron: My Journey to Understand My Brother.” DJ Hernandez, who is three years older than Aaron, chronicled how his life was changed forever by his brother’s death, writing, “I was guilty by association. I was guilty for being the brother.”
Teri Hernandez
Teri Hernandez, played by Tammy Blanchard in the series, is the mother of the Hernandez siblings.
Records show she still lives in Connecticut, and the Bristol, Connecticut, home where she and her late husband, Dennis, raised their sons sold in 2020 for $164,000.
Urban Meyer
Meyer, played by Tony Yazbeck in the series, was Aaron Hernandez’s coach at the University of Florida.
Meyer went on to work as a commentator for ESPN, head football coach at Ohio State University and head coach of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. He currently serves as a commentator for Fox Sports’ college football show “Big Noon Kickoff” and co-hosts the dynamic podcast “The Triple Option.”
Tim Tebow
Tebow, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger in the series, was a teammate of Aaron Hernandez at the University of Florida.
Tebow was a star quarterback at the University of Florida and a devout evangelical who went on to play in the NFL and for the New York Mets professional baseball team.
He has also worked as a college football analyst, published three books and currently serves as president of the Tim Tebow Foundation, a nonprofit organization that fights child exploitation and human trafficking and provides medical care to vulnerable people around the world, according to the foundation’s website.
Brian Murphy
Murphy, played by Thomas Sadoski on the TV series, was Aaron Hernandez’s sports agent and remained loyal to him even after his arrest.
The Harvard Law School graduate and Medfield native continues to serve as CEO of Athletes First, an NFL player agency that has represented more than 100 Pro Bowlers and eight Super Bowl MVPs, according to its website.
Bill Belichick
Belichick, played by Norbert Leo Butz in the series, is the legendary former Patriots head coach who led the team to six Super Bowl victories before leaving the team in January.
He coached Hernandez during his time with the Patriots.
Since retiring from his coaching career, the renowned coach has maintained a high media presence, appearing as a weekly guest on the “Monday Night Football ManningCast” alongside Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, providing commentary on The CW Network’s “Inside the NFL,” providing weekly analysis on YouTube’s “Underdog Fantasy,” and co-hosting the “Let’s Go!” podcast with Jim Gray on Sirius XMR.
