Petroleum Resources Minister Heineken Lokpobiri has said that Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike is responsible for appointments in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
Mr. Lokpobiri disclosed this on Saturday at an event organized in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, by the Ijaw Peoples Congress in honor of Mr. Wike.
The former senator also revealed that the Tinubu administration’s move to become a minister began at Wike’s residence in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, and ended at his residence in Abuja.
Punch Online reported that Lokpobiri, who hails from Bayelsa, served as the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development from 2015 to 2019.
“My brothers and sisters, it is important for me to tell you that as I stand before you today as the Minister of Petroleum Resources, I too have been made possible because of Nyesom Wike. We also heard from the MD of NDDC who said he had a direct role in the appointment.
“My own case could have played a more direct role. Some of you may not know. It all started at Wike’s house in Port Harcourt and then at Wike’s house in Abuja. It’s over. My second journey to becoming a pastor started at the pastor’s house in Port Harcourt and ended at the pastor’s house in Abuja. It is important for me to complete this history.
“Because when I looked at the welcome address, our name was not included among those who benefited from his charity. I thought I would be among those who did, but I have to complete it because it doesn’t have a name on it. Dear Aijas, I want you to know that we have brothers and friends.
“It is much better to have good friends than to have bad brothers. What good is a bad brother? It is of no use. But if you have good friends like the FCT Minister, you are already blessed. Masu.
“Mr. Minister of the FCT, on behalf of all Ijaw people around the world, I would like to express my gratitude to you for your expression of love for the Ijaw people. We Ijaw people are a very grateful people. You. If you do good to us, we will not repay you with evil. Therefore, we will always be grateful to you for what you have done for our Ijaw people. We look forward to seeing you do more for our Ijaw people.”
