President Akufo-Addo and John Mahama
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has slammed former President John Dramani Mahama, stressing that Mahama will only serve one term as Ghana’s president.
On Tuesday, October 29, President Akufo-Addo, during a tour of the Ahafo region, said that Mr Mahama’s failure to serve a second term calls into question his credibility and political influence, which is higher than others. He suggested that we should not be proud of our level.
The remarks follow Mr Mahama’s recent refusal to debate with Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr Mahama dismissed the idea, telling supporters in the Ningo Prampuram constituency in the Accra metropolitan area that discussing Bawumia would only elevate the vice president to his level.
He maintained that he was not obligated to engage with the Vice President on policy issues and would rather discuss them with Dr Bawumia.
Following Mr Mahama’s dismissal, President Akufo-Addo maintained that there was no basis for Mr Mahama to claim superiority over Dr Bawumia, and that Mr Mahama’s one-term term as president would place him ahead of the vice president. He said it was not located.
President Akufo-Addo said Mr Mahama “doesn’t have the level” of Mr Bawumia and should not avoid engagement with him on the basis of seniority.
He appealed to Ahafo supporters to support Mr. Bawumia in the upcoming elections, stressing that the Vice President’s leadership and contributions are a testament to his ability to lead Ghana effectively.
“Mahama says he won’t discuss Bawumia because Bawumia is not on his level. Is it true? He is not in his class but for me, I don’t know what class Mahama is in. For whatever reason, he says he won’t discuss Bawumia.” ”
“For me, the only class that I know of is that since the Fourth Republic, there have been five people who have had the opportunity to be president of this country, and unfortunately one did not complete the term, and by God Glory to him but 4 of them left because there was only one person Ghanaians gave him one term due to his poor performance and it was his Mr. Mahama. When you say there’s a class, it’s that class, and he’s the only one who has that class,” the president said.
